TNEI is looking to add an experienced acoustician to the Planning and Environmental Team.
The role will centre on providing technical support to TNEI’s Planning and Environmental team. The team focuses on Renewable Energy projects with particular expertise in wind energy developments. Duties will include undertaking a variety of noise assessments with an emphasis on ETSU-R-97 wind farm assessments.
The Job will be based in TNEI’s Newcastle office but will include 1-2 days a week out on site, all over the UK. Overnight stays will occasionally be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Project management of noise assessments
- Producing tenders and management of budgets
- Consultation with Environmental Health Officers including advising on appropriate use of planning conditions
- Attending public exhibitions to present noise assessment findings
- Writing and signing off noise assessment reports
- Undertake noise assessment site visits all over the UK
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of acoustics and an interest in the Renewable Energy sector. Applicants should meet the following criteria
Essential
- Working knowledge of acoustics (min 2 years)
- Interest in Renewable Energy
- Membership of the IOA (associate at least)
- Full driving licence
- Experience of driving long distances
- Quick leaner
- Experience of EHO consultation
- Ability to draft planning conditions
- Team player
- Excellent project management skills
- IT skills (particularly excel)
- Client facing skills
- Ability to use your own initiative
Desirable
- Acoustics Qualifications (BSc, Diploma, IOA certificate)
- Experience of wind farm assessments
