At a time when local authorities are developing sustainability and climate change strategies, energy consultancy TNEI has recruited an expert who marries both planning and sustainability expertise with in-house knowledge of local government to offer a one stop shop for energy management and sustainability services.
Paul Harrison joined TNEI from a background in local authorities where he spent over 8 years advising on environmental and sustainability issues for both the City of Westminster and the London Borough Tower Hamlets.
In these roles, he provided expert advice and guidance on all issues relating to Strategic Environmental Assessment and Sustainability Appraisals, as well as detailed involvement in Environmental Impact Assessment work for major infrastructure projects.
With Paul on board, TNEI can now extend its energy consultancy offering by combining energy management and renewables expertise with climate change planning and sustainability services.
TNEI’s expansion of its energy consultancy services comes at an ideal time as the need to adopt and implement actions in response to climate change is becoming increasingly vital.
TNEI is already working in the field of sustainability developing strategies for companies which help create vision, provide benchmarks and develop action plans.
Throughout his career, Paul has operated as a specialist advisor for corporate environmental and sustainability developments and is using this expertise to ensure that TNEI becomes a “critical friend” to local authorities. By working with Clients at the beginning of a development, TNEI can ensure that sustainability and energy management are incorporated into the core fabric of any development.
In addition to its new sustainability strategy planning, TNEI has recently been working alongside a number of local authorities to offer energy management consultancy support. Working with both Richmond and Teddington local authorities, TNEI has conducted energy audits on their swimming pools and leisure complexes. From these audits, over £45k potential energy savings were identified in Teddington and £52 K in Richmond.
TNEI is now working alongside these authorities to manage the implementation of the energy efficiencies and is hopeful that the relationships will be developed and the range of services TNEI offers extended to these and to other local authorities.
