Noise

Noise Contour PlotThe noise team undertakes specialist noise investigations and provides wide ranging advice and services, from initial desktop studies and baseline noise surveys through to planning submissions and public inquiries. The team also provides long-term construction site and transport noise monitoring to demonstrate compliance with planning conditions.

The team is competent over a range of acoustic disciplines but has specialist knowledge in industrial, commercial, transportation, aggregate, construction and waste projects. The noise team uses CadnaA (Computer Aided Noise Abatement) and other in-house software packages to accurately predict noise levels for a range of developments and here necessary advise on appropriate noise mitigation.

The noise team is expert in providing:

  • Planning advice
  • Liaison with local authorities
  • Baseline noise surveys
  • Noise modelling and predictions
  • Wind farm acoustic analysis
  • Construction noise analysis
  • Industrial noise assessments
  • Transport noise assessments
  • Workplace noise investigations
  • Compliance monitoring
  • Specialist advice for mitigation and noise control
  • Using specialist noise software to predict noise levels (CadnaA, Windfarm, Windfarmer)

CadnaA Noise PlotThere are six acousticians at TNEI all affiliated with the Institute of Acoustics (IOA). TNEI use a wide range of equipment which includes over 20 sound level meters in addition to complimentary apparatus such as wind monitoring masts and rain gauges.
